AND THUS ENDS...

ANOTHER WEEK

The first part of the night was a wee bit on the busy side. I was the radio link to the $$ for 7 cabs and I was able to keep them filled up with runs until the 9p hour. Then things began dying down, like a plane slamming into a mountainside. Very abrupt change.

There was a canceled flight last night and one of our off-duty drivers, out at the airport, called the owner, who made some statement about it over the air. Then he called me. Told him that I wouldn't be dispatching anyone to OGG unless we received a call from the airport concierge, requesting our services. There are protocols that must be followed or the wrath of the airport guards gods will be incurred. A few of the drivers got antsy and questioned about going out there. I told them that no one goes until we get "The Call". All the displaced passengers were headed to Ka'anapali. A $100 fare.

I am not questioning the veracity of the two drivers who suddenly "dropped tag" for "specials", at OGG. Supposedly, people they had dropped earlier at OGG, for the grounded flight, had called them to be taken to the Westside. Strange that they both "10-13'd" (no show/no load). Very strange. Never did receive "The Call", nor did I expect to. We are only notified in the later hours (after 11p), when no other cab companies are available and buses/shuttles are not readily accessible.

The calls and the cabs both disappeared by 10p. First 4 left, then 3 and finally 2. They (#18 - TMR / #22 - Kimo) had some pauses but generally were either on or on the way to runs.
50 phones calls / 258 recorded transmissions

I forced myself to work last night. Need the money. Made it until 11p, then I had to go home. I was exhausted. Tried to catch a brief nap but couldn't fall asleep. Back on the street at 1a and struggled through until 5a. Ergo, today's post is going to be very, very brief. Oh, and I should have stayed home.

I dispatch tonight from home. From 4a to 12n (UTC) you'll know where I am.

I am off to bed. Talk with you tomorrow, after I go
"OFF THE AIR".
Have a fantastic day!

LIFE AFTER BIRTH

An unborn set of twins' conversation in the womb of their mother...

"Say, do you actually believe in life after birth?" the one twin asks.

"Yes, definitely! Inside we grow and are prepared for what will come outside", answered the other twin.

"I believe that´s nonsense!" says the first. "There can't be life after birth - what is that supposed to look like?"

"I don't exactly know either. But there will certainly be much more light than in here. And maybe we will be walking about and eat with our mouths?"

"I've never heard such nonsense! Eating with the mouth? What a crazy idea. There is the umbilical cord that nourishes us. And how do you want to walk about? The umbilical cord is much too short."

"I am sure it is possible. It´s just that everything will be a little bit different."

"You are crazy! Nobody ever came back after birth. Life is over with birth. That's it."

"I admit that nobody knows what life after birth will look like. But I do know that we will see our mother then, and that she will take care of us."

"Mother???? But you don't believe in a mother, do you? Where is she?"

"She is here, all around us. We are and we live within her and through her. Without her we couldn't exist at all!"

"Nonsense! I´ve never sensed a mother, consequently she doesn´t exist."

"Yes, sometimes, when we are very quiet you can hear her sing, or feel how she caresses our world."
