CLEAN CARTOONS ...

FOR SLIGHTLY TWISTED MINDS

HOPE ONE OF THESE PUT A
ON YOUR FACE

I dialed a number and got the following recording:

"I am not available right now, but
Thank you for caring enough to call.
I am making some changes in my life.
Please leave a message after the
Beep. If I do not return your call,
You are one of the changes."

I SLEPT REALLY GOOD

YESTERDAY

HERE'S WHY:
***
SOME GUYS JUST
NEVER GET A BREAK

My friend, Van, told me the other day that trying to get really decent "Action Photos" is problematic at times. People are always walking between the camera and the desired scene.

To prove his point, he sent me these examples:

Ya wanna talk about last night?

I don't.

Sitting at the Wailea Lookout around 9p. Tourist rental, BIG SUV, pulls up. They are lost. Looking for an address in Maui Meadows. I've mentioned before that the street map of Maui Meadows looks like someone spilled a plate of spaghetti and used the stain marks as the layout.

I retrieved my map book to give him directions. He took one look and asked if I would be willing to lead him to the address he sought. Gave me $10 on a $7.40.

- - -
Assigned an OGG, early in the shift. Wasn't my night. 5 adults with 10 large bags. Did catch the next fare though. A whopping $4.70 from/to adjoining Wailea properties. $10. "Keep the change"

- - -
Edwina, a sweet little Filipina of indeterminate age, between 50 and 70. We have been taking her to work, in the evenings, for at least 5 years. She is a baker in one of the local supermarkets. Goes to work around 9p and makes all those delicious cakes, breads, pies and other scrumptious treats. $10 on a $8.60, usually only gives $9. I think my compliment on her new perfume (Victoria's Secret) got me that extra buck. Well, damn it, she smelled really good.

The rest of the shift was the usual mix of resident/tourist.

The dog-watch provided 3 decent fares and 23.5% of the night's meter

99 miles / 13 fares / 2nd quarter $100 bracket

I won't be dispatching tonight but I do have other plans.

Til tomorrow.

OKAY

I WAS WRONG
Last night's sunset
Wailea Lookout

Haleakala

The way the night started, I wrote it off as another "dud". In fact, it took a long time before the moola was being created. I tracked the number of cabs that we had on the street and my earnings. As the day crew fizzled out, the $s per hour increased, almost in lock-step.

The most fun fare of the shift was a brother & sister, twins, in their early 20's. The barbs they exchanged through out the ride would have been cruel if inflicted on an "outsider" but you could tell that, as with most twins, it was really an expression of fraternal, and family, love. Each one gave as good as they got. The other laughing when bitten by a sharp one. Not long sentences, just sharp "jabs" and always straight at the others jugular vein. And, damn it, I can't remember one iota of their joust. They were comfortable with each other and they knew the other's most intimate secrets, in detail.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?
When I took these shots, the pickup on the right had been parked there for about 2 hours. The one on the left had pulled up about 10 minutes prior to the pic.

They are in restricted parking spaces. Designated for Handicap Use only. Neither vehicle had the appropriate plates nor the alternative windshield placard displayed.

The right truck had been parked by a couple that went to Sansei for a nights entertainment. The left one had been driven in by a solo male who was doing some grocery shopping at FoodLand, where these spaces are located.
Its a shame that MPD seldom enforces this violation.
18 fares/ 110 miles / bottom quarter of $200 bracket
