HERE'S WHY:
SOME GUYS JUSTNEVER GET A BREAK
My friend, Van, told me the other day that trying to get really decent "Action Photos" is problematic at times. People are always walking between the camera and the desired scene.
To prove his point, he sent me these examples:

Ya wanna talk about last night?I don't.
Sitting at the Wailea Lookout around 9p. Tourist rental, BIG SUV, pulls up. They are lost. Looking for an address in Maui Meadows. I've mentioned before that the street map of Maui Meadows looks like someone spilled a plate of spaghetti and used the stain marks as the layout.
I retrieved my map book to give him directions. He took one look and asked if I would be willing to lead him to the address he sought. Gave me $10 on a $7.40.

Assigned an OGG, early in the shift. Wasn't my night. 5 adults with 10 large bags. Did catch the next fare though. A whopping $4.70 from/to adjoining Wailea properties. $10. "Keep the change"- - -
Edwina, a sweet little Filipina of indeterminate age, between 50 and 70. We have been taking her to work, in the evenings, for at least 5 years. She is a baker in one of the local supermarkets. Goes to work around 9p and makes all those delicious cakes, breads, pies and other scrumptious treats. $10 on a $8.60, usually only gives $9. I think my compliment on her new perfume (Victoria's Secret) got me that extra buck. Well, damn it, she smelled really good. The rest of the shift was the usual mix of resident/tourist.
The dog-watch provided 3 decent fares and 23.5% of the night's meter
99 miles / 13 fares / 2nd quarter $100 bracket
I won't be dispatching tonight but I do have other plans.
Til tomorrow.
