FRIENDS

Love comes in all sizes....
Your Friends will support you....
And respect your creativity
for thinking outside the box....
They'll be there when you need a
shoulder to lean on....
Or a great big hug....

A true friend takes interest in
understanding what you're all about....
They see beyond the black and white
to discover your true colors....
And accept you just the way you are...
Even when you just wake up in the morning
So make your own kind of music....
Follow your heart wherever it takes you....
And when someone reaches out to you,
Don't be afraid to love them back....
They may just be a friend for life....
Practice patience and tolerance.....

Good friends are hard to find, harder to leave....

And impossible to forget!

Are you a qualified building tradesman? If so, the construction continues apace here on Mau'i. Very few "locals" are trained (or skilled) in this occupation. Most of the building sites are comprised of workers from all over the world. Can you lay carpet? The hotels have hired people from the mainland to do this. Besides some really fantastic pay, they also provide "room & board". Not a bad set up. Live in a 5-Star hotel, for free, and get to work in Paradise.

Building contractors doing the new condos and SFR (Single Family Residence) homes are paying top dollar for their trades people. They also provide a free condo, usually shared by 3 or 4 workers, to their employees.

On Saturday night I took 3 great guys, from Bosnia, back to their residence. They do finish carpentry and their base pay is between $20 and $30 per hour. They only spend money for personal necessities and pleasures.

I have also met tile layers from Italy, plumbers from New Zealand and electricians from Australia, and thats a short list.

Another nice thing about the construction industry on Mau'i is that it is NOT seasonal. Since it is basically "Summer" all year long, the work never stops. No drawing unemployment for 6 months, like most tradespeople do on the mainland.

The only thing I can't help anyone who might be interested is who to contact. Though a call to the Hawai'i Building Contractors, Inc. (808-572-7935) might be a good start.
