LAST NIGHT

7p to 2a = 4 runs
2a to 5a = 2 runs

But I did meter over $100 (barely) and, with some really great tips (about 60% of the meter), I had a decent take home, all things considered.

One young woman learned that presenting a $50 bill to pay for a $15 fare can cost more than expected. Especially when the cabbie only has $20 in change and she didn't want to go somewhere else to "break" the bill. Expensive lesson.

Best run of the night was a roundtrip from The Grand to Longs Drugs in Kihei.

My next to the last run of the night was from the "Triangle" at 2:45am. Took a semi-regular from there to the Renaissance. He asked how my night had been and I told him the truth. Tipped me 100%, exactly, of the fare.

The last run of the shift, at 3:15am, did the same thing.

Flor and Murph both checked in at 4:45am and I was home by 5:15am.

FOLLOWUP

Crabbie asked about the meter rates on Mau'i.

They are shown on a post I made back on Sunday, February 19, 2006.

Wil, the 80's video link was PURE EVIL. I had every intention of going to bed as soon as I got home and this sucked me right in. Where do you find this shit???
LOL -
Your comment, two e-mails and three people that live locally. Everyone said basically the same thing. A definate love/hate reaction.

Glad to be of service.

Oh, where do I find this shit? Usually they are sent to me by friends, hoping to make an anonymous contribution to the blog. Occasionally I stumble across some myself and save them to my del.icio.us file for future use.

Later.....

Aw, shucks Wil, I love your birthday greetings to your son - it's funny, but they are always your babies no matter what age they are.

Happy Birthday to your son and all good wished to him and you.

xx

That's a pretty nice meter, makes up for the gas a bit. For passengers we're at $2.50 flag drop, $2.10/mile and $.50/minute waiting. No baggage or bike surcharge, though. Our gas is much cheaper, though.
