HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA

"Let's all be careful out there!"

THE TEXAS BOARD of EDUCATION...

And its  religious conservative members have decided it high time to revise the history of America...

As a matter of historical fact, America entered into the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797 which included in part the following statement:
"the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion ."

Thomas Jefferson, until this year, was revered in American history textbooks as the Founding Father who wrote the Declaration of Independence. His document is the reason we celebrate the fourth of July as this country's independence day. This is a holiday to remind Americans about the history and significance of that document.
But earlier this year, religious conservative members of the Texas Board of Education decided to push for a revision of this history by downplaying Jefferson's influence in the founding of our nation because the notion of the "separation of church and state" has been traced to him. These religious rightists believe this country was founded as a Christian nation and decided to make their point by revising American history in their public school text books. The effect of this kind of revision of American history would be to celebrate the founding of this country as a religious event rather than the secular event it is.

The Stuff I Find Fascinating:

This composite imgage, made using X-rays from the Chandra observatory overlaid on an optical image from the Hubble Space Telescope, shows evidence of a recoiling black hole. Researchers think that the kickback was caused either by a slingshot effect produced in a triple black hole system, or from the effects of gravitational waves produced after two supermassive black holes merged a few million years earlier.

MEDICAL ADVICE FOR 2010 FROM EXPERT DOCTOR

I Love This Doctor!!!!
Q: Doctor,  I've heard that  cardiovascular exercise can prolong life.  Is this true?
A: Your heart only good for so many beats, and that it--don't waste on exercise.  Everything wear out eventually.  Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster.  Want to live longer?  Take nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiency.  What does cow eat?   Hay and corn.  And what are these?   Vegetables.  So steak is nothing more than efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system.  Need grain?  Eat chicken.  Beef also good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable).  And pork chop can give you 100% of recommended daily allowance of vegetable product.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A:  No, not at all.  Wine made from fruit.  Brandy is distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way.  Beer also made of grain.  Bottom up!

Q: How  can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one.  If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc.

Q: What  are some of  the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of single one, sorry.  My philosophy is: No pain---.good!

Q:  Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A:  YOU NOT LISTENING!  Food are fried these day in vegetable oil.  In fact, they permeated by it.  How could getting more vegetable be bad for you?!?

Q
:  Will  sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not!  When you exercise muscle, it get bigger.  You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.

Q:  Is chocolate bad for me?
A:  Are you crazy?!?  HEL-LO-O!!  Cocoa bean!  Another vegetable!  It best feel-good food around!

Q:  Is swimming good for your figure?
A:  If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me..

Q:  Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A:  Hey!  'Round' a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And  remember:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up,  totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a  ride!!"

AND--..
For  those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health.  It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional  studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of  sausages and fats
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION:

Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

"Let's all be careful out there!"

A GLASS of WINE

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine...
And those who don't and are always
seen with a bottle of water in their hand.

As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials,
Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink
1 litre of water each day,
At the end of the year we would have absorbed
More than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria
Found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop..

However,
We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer
(or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor)
Because alcohol has to go through a purification process
Of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
Than to drink water and be full of shit.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:
I'm doing it as a public service!

5 DR.s

Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the best patients to operate on.
The first surgeon, from New York , says,
"I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.."

The second, from Chicago , responds,
"Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded."

The third surgeon, from Dallas , says,
"No, I really think librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order"

The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in:
"You know, I like construction workers... Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over."

But the fifth surgeon, from Washington DC , shut them all up when he observed:
"You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on.  There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine. Plus, the head and the butt are interchangeable."

GOOD NEWS / BAD NEWS

This afternoon I go back to the eye surgeon to have 4 more stitches removed from the right eye. That will leave 4 to be removed at the end of the month or early June. It appears the corneal transplant and lens replacement are healing very well.

Had the PET/CT scan last Wednesday. The tumors have returned to my abdomen and thus a new round of chemo will be commenced shortly. Also radiation is being added. I usually have a pretty high tolerance for pain but it has become debilitating enough that the Doc now has me on Vicodin. Doesn't really eliminate it but it allows me to have some functionality.

This new chemo drug may forestall having the needed surgery on my left eye this Fall. That's disappointing.

Side effects of the new chemo will be hair loss and diarrhea. So there goes my pony-tail and beard. Oh, well. Feces occurs.

Self evaluating my emotional status: Mostly disappointment. Not depressed. Not afraid. I am a realist and knew that going into this situation I had, at best, a 50% chance of winning.

I'll let y'all know whats happening when an update is warranted.
