WHERE IS ...

Yesterday we looked at the resort hotels south of Kihei, in the Wailea and Makena areas. Today we'll go north into Kihei.

There is no "center of town" in Kihei. Instead, we have three distinct shopping areas that comprise our commercial zones.


Going north from the Grand Wailea we first come to Kamaole Shopping Center, where Denny's is located.


Continue north from there and you arrive at Kihei Town Center, FoodLands location. Right next door (to the south) is the "Triangle". Draw a line from Lulu's to Kahale's to LAB (Life's A Beach) and back to Lulu's and you can see the reason for the nickname.


About a mile further north is the Azeka Shopping Center, which is divided by south Kihei road. Azeka Makai (oceanside) to the west and Azeka Mauka (mountainside) to the east. Just a short distance uphill (mauka) is the Pi'ilani Village Shopping Center, where Safeway sits.


I hope this helps everyone figure out where things are at when I make reference to locales.
