BEST TUESDAY

IN A LONG TIME

Not good. Definitely not GREAT. But the best Tuesday I've seen in a very long time.

Logged in and heard #27 (TMR) pick up to OGG. 1 minute later #22 (Kimo) also picked up to OGG. I was now 3rd up in the Wailea rotation.

#17 (Maui Jim) gets a dinner run into south Kihei. Then #05 (Tina) is dispatched for an OGG. I am now 1st up!

I get a hotel-to-hotel, $5.60.

#17 had checked back in to Wailea, as had #25 (Lee), another day-shift holdover. So I am now 3rd up again.

#17 gets an OGG and so did #25. I am back to 1st position.

Wailea to Sarentos. Which sits right on the Wailea/Kihei divide line. Just into Kihei.

No out-of-town runs for me. Oh, we had them but my karma was being pissed on. I wonder which one of the Fates I had drawn the attention of.

I thought my luck was going to change when I learned of a 4:30a to OGG from Wailea. I was doing a set of in-town pu-pus when #21 (Mary) checked in to Wailea at 3:40a. She was 1st up and there went my only shot for a "money" fare. Finished the last of my town runs, refueled and headed to Wailea to turn over the phone and reservations. Arrived just as the folks showed up.

Oh, well. As Chief Dan George said in the movie "Little Big Man":
"Sometimes the magic works and sometimes it doesn't."
As I say:
FECES OCCURS!

12 fares / 76 miles / 2nd quarter $100 bracket

I hope you enjoy this:

A little boy goes to his father and asks,
"Daddy, how was I born?"
The father answers,
"Well son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway!

Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe.

We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither
one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said:
(Scroll Down)

'You got Male!'"

Everybody enjoy your day and I'll see you tomorrow.

THE BIGGEST "ASS"

IN AMERICA

Rush Limbaugh

For my readers outside of North America, Rush is an ultra-conservative radio talk-show host. He has the #1 rated radio show in America.

The story is here. From FOX NEWS, our conservative National TV Network.

"Let's all be careful out there!"

AND THUS BEGINS

A NEW WEEK, A NEW MONTH, A NEW QUARTER

A fresh canvas, upon which we will paint the future chapters of our life.

Some of us will do better than others.

Art of Illusion - Trompe l'oeil Murals
Commission an artist for a large-scale life-like mural to turn walls into a panoramic setting which will add almost infinite depth to rooms. Here's an example of one of the best in the business, the artist Eric Grohe. The scale, realism and attention to detail are incredible.

Before photo - typical concrete & stucco facade
Preparing the wall surface
Preparing the canvas - plastering the wall surface
The wall starts to take on a 3-dimensional appearance
Eric in his element, 30' off the ground. He does most of the artwork by himself & researches, paints and designs each project from scratch. His wife Kathy, also an artist, serves as project manager.

The German made (century old) Keim mineral paints are engineered for durability & longevity. Their liquid-mineral application bonds potassium silicate with the building's mineral substrate....they resist UV and moisture corrosion and remain color true for over 100 years.

After photos of the 50x58' mural - it's hard to tell you're looking at a 2-dimensional flat wall

Eric Grohe and his wife Kathy live in Marysville, WA . To view more of his work, I've posted some highlights below or you can visit his web site at http://www.ericgrohemurals.com .

For specific questions, you can contact Eric at

Here are some more examples of Eric's projects....

After - hard to believe you're looking at a flat 2-dimensional wall

How to dress up a Shopping Mall - Niagara, NY
Before
After - wide view

After - close ups (I wonder how many birds fly into this wall on a daily basis??)

Indoor Murals - Miller Brewery

When working indoors, the environment is typically not as harsh and one could conceivably use large format digital reproductions to create a life-like mural. However, if the indoor location is exposed to humidity, UV or airborne vapors/chemicals, digital reproductions will begin to deteriorate rather quickly. The murals below are painted in oil on a aluminum backingand are overcoated to protect from the chemical and physical abuse of day to day activity.Hallway before - Miller fermenting rooms

After photos - past meets present in the Miller Brewery fermenting rooms - hooks, clipboards and aprons were added to the surface of the murals to enhance the illusion. You're looking at flat walls!
Detail view looking down the illusional hallway in the previous mural.

Brew Room includes 22 smaller murals - various sizes depicting historic scenes of Miller's history going back to the 19th century

I'll have "my nose to the grindstone" and "my shoulder to the wheel" as I start my week tonight. Maybe thants why I always ache.
