WHAT AN EXCITING DAY

NOT!

Woke up. Did my weekly load of laundry. Surfed the web. Took Judy to dinner (Outback Steakhouse). Watched TV at her place. Came home.

Now I am doing my "Seinfeld" impression of a blog. A blog about nothing.

HEROES is getting very interesting as we approach the end of the February "sweeps" (TV rating period). They'll leave us with a cliffhanger until the May "sweeps". Nobody else seems to comment about this show, but its viewership has dramatically increased since its debut this past Fall. It even won some Golden Globes. Not bad.

Bear decided that my "Santa" hat was his latest toy. Nice and furry. When he vanquished this enemy, he peed on it. I'll need to buy a new one next winter. Sigh.

Next Monday, if everything follows plan, I'll be assisting Judy in the purchase of a car. Hers recently gave up the ghost and she really misses having the independence to go and come at her own volition. When I am working, I will give her rides in the cab. Oh, I do log the trips and the boss is paid but I don't charge her. Its just one of those things that friends do for friends.

I have my fingers crossed that I have a decent week at work. Last week almost caught me up and a repeat would bring me even.

Today is "Fat Tuesday" (Mardi Gras). So tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. Easter will be on April 8th this year.

ITS PRESIDENT'S DAY

I HAD TOTALLY FORGOTTEN

But that explains why my counters have "nose-dived" this weekend.

I am from an age where we celebrated Lincoln's Birthday (February 12th) and Washington's Birthday (February 22nd). Never did adapt to this consolidation.

Everyone is either getting out of town for the long weekend or are still busy shoveling their drives and walks. More and likely, the latter.

Tuesday is Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday). The population of New Orleans is going to go all out for their celebration. They've had 26 homicides since the first of the year. Maybe more, I haven't checked since Saturday.

As usual, I slept most of the day away. Awoke before sunset. Grabbed a bite to eat and sat down on my couch to see if there was anything worth watching on the tube. After 15 minutes, I was sawing logs again. Oh, well.

END OF MY WEEK

BRAIN FARTS

I wonder if the folks at NASA "do launch"?

Sushi:
If you roll it in corn meal and fry it up, it tastes just like fish.

I must have slipped through a rip in the fabric of space-time last night and slipped back to last year.

It was that good!

20 fares, 3 were $20 or better and 3 were less than $10. The other 14 fell between those bookends. Metered as much last night as my weekly total has been in the recent past. It felt really, really good.

Every ride was just common decent ordinary people. Not overly intoxicated, not obnoxious. Our everyday "bread and butter" business. The people I seldom even mention.

Today is my 5th anniversary of driving cab on Mau'i. Sometimes it seems like it has been a lot longer and other days it seems as if it was only yesterday.
